Bit by Bit: Building a Kindergarten Classroom from Scratch
My students need 17 supplies that will enliven their blossoming classroom, enhance learning, and give them a strong start to the school year, including a set of big books and pretend & play resources.

My Students
When you think of Kindergarten, what comes to mind? A bright, welcoming classroom full of color? Easel, blocks, big books, play dough?
Our school has opened a new classroom but it still lacks what a basic Kindergarten class needs.
You are invited to help us build up our classroom bit by bit.
Twenty-three bright and bubbly 5-year-olds fill the newly-established classroom of this urban NY public school.
I have just recently been assigned as their teacher - their original teacher is sick in the hospital. These children came to me excited, and desiring to participate in activities for which there were no materials and supplies.
My Project
Can you not see it? I can! A dramatic play center, an alphabet cutting/play dough center, blocks, big books, and art supplies for our easel; kindergartners learn in so many ways, and as they learn to play, they play to learn.
A common set of scissors and construction paper to cut and create art projects supports the curriculum and develops fine motor skills. The other materials will stock and equip established learning centers in our classroom.
Our classroom is growing still, and all of these materials will help us really launch into the various lessons and activities that have been, and will be, planned.
