My Project
Help our Title 1 first graders soar in their learning about birds! Our students will participate in a lengthy unit at the end of the year in which they will become Bird Experts. Students will observe, study, and researcher different types of birds. They will look closely at bird body parts and discover how birds use their body parts to survive. Students will demonstrate their knowledge by writing a riddle about of bird of their choosing for others to solve. Students will also become advocates for birds after learning about the many ways birds help other living things.
With your help, our enthusiastic young learners will be able to continue their advocacy, learning, and observing outside of the classroom.
We would like to have each of our students create their own, hand-made bird house to take home and place in their yard. This will allow students to see first hand what different birds look like and how they use their body parts to survive. Being able to take this home will also provide students will the opportunity to not only continue their learning about the species, but to share their knowledge with others at home.
