Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a STEM teacher, I find that learning outside the classroom is just as valuable as learning inside. There is a whole world outside our windows that the students are curious about. I feel that I would be doing a disservice to my students to not help them discover something new.
I want to provide my students with an opportunity to use technology to get up close and personal with the natural world around them.
By using bird camera feeders, my students can observe the local wildlife up close without disturbing the local ecosystem. We are going to use these devices to calculate frequency of visits of different species and assess how humans are impacting the environment, whether positively or negatively.
It is my hope to provide my students with this opportunity to inspire them to be more aware of the world that they will one day inherit and to encourage them to care for the creatures around them.
