Biomedical Scholars Seek Competition Scrubs

Help me give my students the ability to compete in healthcare and workplace readiness scholarship competitions in the required professional attire.

My Students

The Biomedical Academy at our high school is a college preparatory medical program for public school students interested in earning (free!) college credit applicable to the pursuit of a degree in the healthcare field. In order to keep this program free and available to the wide array of diverse students, we require the support of idealists like yourself.

In the Biomedical Academy, students gain exposure to healthcare professions, work-based learning opportunities, and are given the opportunity to compete in healthcare events and earn scholarships through organizations like HOSA and SkillsUSA.

My Project

Our Biomedical students train throughout the year to compete in healthcare and leadership events such as Nurse Assisting, Basic Life Support (healthcare providers CPR/AED/FirstAid), Community Emergency Response Team (FEMA CERT), Healthcare Knowledge Bowl, Medical Terminology, Medical Math, Job Interview, Prepared Speech, and Extemporaneous Speech. Professional attire is a key piece that sets our academy students apart. These students gain the opportunity to both look and feel like the professionals they aspire to be. Students gain a sense of pride and confidence when donning competition scrubs! Please help us foster this sense of accomplishment in these future healthcare providers. (Even when distance competitions are held virtually, we must be in professional attire; I do not currently have the supplies to send competitions scrubs home with all in-person and distance students).

Anything you would be willing to contribute would greatly aid us in our endeavor to compete in our upcoming healthcare competitions and job placement challenges, which result in collegiate scholarships for these public school students.

Our class size is growing; while this biomedical academy program is an exciting opportunity I am now able to provide to a greater number of deserving students, it has also left us short supplied. We are asking for additional scrub sets so that our high needs academy students may compete in the required competition attire.

I will be sewing "Enterprise Project Biomedical Academy" patches on each of these scrub sets so that all students match. This will afford all students, regardless of circumstance, the opportunity to compete on a level playing field in scrubs that elicit a feeling of pride when worn.
