Bins That Spark Joy (and Learning!)

My Project

In my third-grade special education classroom in Jersey City, NJ, every child brings a unique story, culture, and spark to our learning community. Our classroom is home to a wonderfully diverse group of students, many of whom face economic challenges but come to school each day eager to grow, connect, and achieve. More than half of the students in our school receive free or reduced-price lunch, and our school motto—Respect, Accepting Others, Caring, and Excelling—guides everything we do.

To help my students thrive, I’m requesting a set of bright, colorful bins to organize our classroom library and learning materials.

These bins will bring much-needed structure to our space, making it easier for my students to access books and supplies independently. For my students with special needs, clear organization and visual supports are essential to helping them feel confident, capable, and ready to learn.

Color-coded and visually appealing bins will not only brighten up our learning environment but also support key executive functioning skills like sorting, planning, and responsibility. Most importantly, they will create a welcoming space where students feel respected and empowered to take ownership of their learning.

With your support, I can continue creating an inclusive, engaging, and joyful classroom that reflects the pride I feel as their teacher. Thank you for helping me give these incredible students the tools—and the environment—they deserve!
