Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are in a small therapeutic self-contained program that have many social and emotional needs ranging from self-regulation to effective social skills. Many of these students have experienced abuse and/or neglect, various traumatic situations, mental illness within the family, being raised in the absences of either one or both of their parents, and their own behavioral struggles that have impacted their ability to function without the use of increased supports. Because of how small our program is, we don't have much access or funding to field trips outside of our school. Therefore, our goal is to bring the resources to our students.

My Project

Last school year, we had an awesome social worker that brought in the Coping Skills Bingo and all the students loved it. They engaged in conversations about the topics presented in the bingo, participated in the activity, were motivated to come to group, and most importantly they were able to add to their social emotional language and skill set in a fun way. Sadly, that social worker is no longer in our program and neither is the game which is why I'm requesting donations for this project.

With your donations and funding towards this project, our program will have these games available for all of the students that are currently enrolled and prospective students as well.

In addition, the Bingo games series not only comes with the Coping Skills game, but also has Conflict Resolution, Bullying Prevention, Healthy Habits, Harassment Prevention, and Communication Bingo.

Please help fund this project that way we can continue to make coming to social work group enjoyable while learning and utilizing social emotional language in a fun way!
