Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am blessed to teach in a rural Texas school that was built on a plot of farmland in between two rural towns that bears both of their names, Springlake-Earth ISD. The majority of our student population comes from low-income Hispanic families that provide labor for the nearby farms, dairies, and cattle feedyards.
The goal of this project is to teach young students to be organized and responsible with their school supplies, provide a way to communicate with parents, and help low-income families.
These notebooks are used daily to carry their supplies, classwork, and a school communicator to different classes and their homes. The students learn how to write down their homework, keep up with assignments, and give teachers and parents an easy way to communicate with each other.
The main goal of this project is to help our families in the community. It is difficult for most families in our school to buy basic school supplies for their kids. These kids love having their own supplies. It is a simple way to help them feel confident that they have what they need to succeed daily in class.
