My Students
I work with an amazingly diverse and talented group of scholars. All of the students that I support have a disability supported by an IEP and/or are an English Language Learning student. While they may come to school each day with their own challenges, they persevere through the middle school years, which are not easy for anyone!
The majority of students that I work with have an Individualized Education Plan and receive Special Education services.
In order to be prepared for their classes and transition with all of their necessary materials, we have found the zipper binders to be most preferred by the students.
My Project
The middle school students that I work with really struggle with daily organization and executive functioning. They are new to transitioning across multiple class settings and often misplace items. We have an AVID schoolwide organization system to help support students but the students need the basic tools in order to be successful.
Binders and zip pouches have allowed many students to be more independent in their daily middle school routine.
I support several students with special needs and the zip binders have proven helpful for motor needs. Many students just need a place to keep their items that is their own as they transition around school and to/from home each day.
