Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are all juniors and students who have signed up for AP Environmental Science to give them a rigorous course in high school. They live on the southeast side of Chicago and attend a neighborhood high school.
My students are interested in science, being challenged and most importantly, being change agents in their communities and environment.
They are extremely hardworking and motivated to get a 3+ on their AP exam, and preparing for college as a high school student.
My Project
The AP exam is in May and the exam assesses students on the entire school year. There are 9 units in the AP Environmental course guide.
This means in March, my students need to start reviewing all the material, even the lessons from September.
The binder tabs will help students keep their work from different units separate and organized.
Organization is a non-cognitive skill that our school is working on, and I am confident that these binder tabs will add an extra layer of organization for the students. I remember being most successful in high school when I had a teacher that supported me to be organized. I am hoping these binder tabs will do the same for my students this year.
Some of my students were able to supply their own binder tabs, but some are not able to. These binder tabs will help the students who need financial support.
