it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Signing up to take the AP Capstone courses means you're challenging yourself, so my students are go-getters, they're chasing down their dreams. In the second course, AP Research, students are developing the independence and self-management skills that will help them succeed in college and in their professional lives.
These students are working to build autonomy over their learning and self-regulation of their study and work habits.
And, of course, they are building major knowledge and skills in the area of research!
My Project
If you've known many school-aged children, you've probably seen at least one with the "paper bomb" backpack. This is where you open the backpack and it looks like a paper bomb has gone off inside! It is really hard to be on top of your academic game if you don't have a system of organization for your materials.
In AVID, we teach students organizational skills to help them manage, track, and store assignments and resources from school.
One of the two main tools we use to teach these skills is the 3-ring binder. In it, students can keep all of their materials for all of their classes, ensuring they are never without what they need to do the work. Supply pouches and 3-hole punches are the materials that make the binders an accessible tool for our students.
