This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My school is lucky to serve the smartest, kindest, and most eager learners around. Our students are eager to explore books and develop a love for reading, but many of them face a major obstacle: our library shelves just aren't built with them in mind.
Most of our books are stored upright, with only the spines showing, which can be overwhelming and discouraging for early readers.
Many of our students are still learning how to recognize letters and words, and they often miss out on finding books that spark their interest simply because they can't see their covers.
That's why I am requesting book browsing bins- low-to-the-ground, front-facing storage that allows students to see the cover, reach them easily, and explore independently. With these bins, students will be able to flip through books safely, quickly, and confidently. They will make their own reading choices while building excitement about literacy.
