This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We have a pressing need for manipulatives and hands-on materials in our classroom, particularly to support the learning of our bilingual students who have faced unique challenges in the aftermath of the pandemic. These materials can significantly enhance the educational experience and provide numerous benefits for our students.
Here are some key advantages of the materials we require:
Snap Blocks Set of 100: These blocks are invaluable for teaching addition and subtraction within the scope of 100. They offer a tangible and tactile method for students to grasp the relationship between these mathematical operations. By physically handling the blocks, our students can construct numbers, formulate equations, and visually witness how the addition or removal of blocks affects quantity.
Creative LEGO® DUPLO® Brick Set: LEGO bricks are renowned for their blend of fun and education. These bricks play a crucial role in developing fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Additionally, collaborative activities involving LEGO bricks encourage cooperation and turn-taking among students. This aspect is particularly advantageous for our bilingual learners, as it fosters communication and collaboration with peers, contributing to enhanced language skills and social development.
Lakeshore Reward Treasure Chest and Super Duper Prize Bucket: These motivational tools have proven highly effective in promoting positive behavior and motivation among our students. Bilingual students often face additional hurdles in adapting to the classroom environment, and these rewards act as positive reinforcements for their efforts. Furthermore, they contribute to creating a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere, a vital component for the success of language learners.
