This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My group of 6th graders is extremely motivated and culturally aware of their surroundings. They enjoy read aloud and reading to self during independent reading time. They make connections with the stories and add their twist to the end as they predict a different ending to stories. Their sense of adventure and passion for reading is simply admirable. Reading has enabled them to visualize the stories and be able to integrate their background knowledge. They especially enjoy reading stories that they can relate to.

My Project

The materials for this project will help our bilingual students that are transitioning into English as well as our newcomers. The resources will be used in a small group setting as well as one on one. Students will learn to use sight words and be able to apply them in sentences for reading, speaking, and writing.

Our goal is to provide resources that will help and motivate students to learn to read, write, and speak English.

All of the resources for this project will enhance students' ability to learn a second language.
