Help me give my students the hands-on experience to become literate in Spanish with Bilingual Readers, Spanish Word Tubs, and a Bilingual Photo Library.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students come to school and into our Dual Language class daily eager to learn, and explore their second language of Spanish. They have a positive attitude, and are always more than willing to help one another. We are a true “familia” in our Dual Language Classroom.
My students are unique because they have adapted to the shortcomings of their community and continue to thrive.
Students have managed to make the best of the limited Spanish material in class. These new materials will allow them to explore centers by reading books, build sentences, learn and develop new vocabulary, and read in Spanish! The goal of Dual Language Immersion is for students to be bi-literate, and these materials will help increase this in our class. Students will have the opportunity to be autonomous in class as they choose a leveled book, build their vocabulary with picture cards, and create a sentence from the tub of words, during Spanish Literacy time. This opportunity of choice will motivate all students to develop and fortify their second language of Spanish. They will be engaged, and make great use of these materials!
