Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My sixth-grade students are incredible. As native Spanish speakers learning English, they come to our public charter school every day with determination, curiosity, and a hunger to succeed. They work twice as hard—mastering rigorous academic content while also navigating a new language. Their resilience inspires me daily, and I want to create a classroom that supports their growth, honors their identities, and makes learning joyful.

This project will help transform our space into a more welcoming and creative environment.

A calming carpet will anchor a cozy reading and reflection corner—giving students a safe, comfortable space to explore books, take brain breaks, or recharge when needed. Art materials will open doors for self-expression, allowing students to demonstrate their understanding and creativity in ways beyond just written English. And fun, encouraging stickers will help me celebrate their efforts and achievements in a tangible, uplifting way.

With your support, my students will not only continue building confidence in English—they’ll feel seen, valued, and empowered every step of the way. These resources may seem small, but together, they help create a classroom where bilingual brilliance is nurtured and celebrated. Thank you for investing in these remarkable learners and leaders.
