This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Students learning English as a second language already have a wealth of knowledge in their native language. Some students even know how to read in their home language, but need resources to practice transferring this skill into English.

Bilingual books will help students bridge the gap between their native language and their developing English language skills.

By providing words and stories in both languages, students will better understand how the purpose of language is the same even if the actual words are different.

Bilingual books foster a love of learning and show an appreciation for students' native culture.
