This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I love my students' curiosity and pride in their bilingual abilities. The bilingual books I’ve chosen are essential for our second-grade, dual language class, providing relatable stories that deepen their understanding of diverse cultures and family histories. These resources align with our Social Studies biliteracy units, enriching lessons with meaningful, culturally relevant content that strengthens both language skills and cultural awareness. Each book helps bridge connections between their personal experiences and the world, fostering a love for reading in both languages and supporting their growth as thoughtful, engaged learners.

Each bilingual book will help my students strengthen literacy in both English and Spanish, reinforcing vocabulary, grammar, and reading fluency.

Additionally, these resources create opportunities for discussions that enhance social and emotional learning. When students recognize the diverse voices and perspectives in the books, they are inspired to celebrate their own backgrounds and those of their classmates.

These books are more than just learning tools; they are bridges that connect my students to their languages, families, and the world. By incorporating bilingual books, I’m helping my students become confident, compassionate, and well-rounded learners.
