This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My name is Nikale Davis (Media Coordinator/Technology Associate), and I am fundraising to build Devonshire Elementaries Bilingual Library. Devonshire Elementary is located in Charlotte, NC. Our school serves a diverse population of students from around the world. Recently our enrollment has increased with students whose first language is not English. When these students visit our school's library, they desire to check out books as well, but due to limited resources, we have very few bilingual books and no books available in foreign languages. I desire to make our library inclusive for all students so that all students have access to high-quality books and are encouraged to continue reading in their native language as they begin to learn English.

Funding this project will:

• Add new books to the school library.

• Provides books to children who otherwise could not afford them.

• Gives kids access to books they want to read in our library.

• Cultivates a love of reading and a love of helping others.

• Reinforces that reading is a priority for schools, families, and communities.
