This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am a veteran teacher that has been teaching for 21 years in both special education resource and English as a second language. This upcoming school year I will be transitioning into the classroom for the first time and will be filling a position as a Bilingual Kindergarten teacher.
My students will be entering school for the first time and be given the opportunity to learn in their native language for the first time ever in this school district.
We have never implemented bilingual education to this degree in our district so it's new for everyone.
I am also building my classroom from square one and need to build my resources. Having these books would provide great read alouds for my students to hear books not only in their native language but book that relate to their culture as well.
Your donation will help me build my classroom library and provide my wonderful kindergarten students access to books in their native language to start building the foundation that will help them bridge into English in the future.
