Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our student population is richly diverse, with many students coming from Spanish-speaking families and demonstrating strong bilingual capabilities. These students possess an invaluable capacity to navigate multiple languages and cultures, a strength we aim to support and enhance. The acquisition of biliteracy is crucial for these students, as it not only develops their linguistic skills but also fosters a deeper connection to their heritage and broadens their global perspective. The requested resources, specifically a collection of bilingual Spanish books, will play a pivotal role in achieving these goals.

These books will strengthen biliteracy skills by providing parallel texts that reinforce reading comprehension and vocabulary in both English and Spanish.

They will also create a vital home-to-school connection, validating students' cultural identities and encouraging greater family involvement in their education. By providing culturally relevant and engaging materials, we aim to improve student comprehension, boost confidence, and celebrate the linguistic diversity within our classroom, ultimately fostering a more inclusive and effective learning environment.
