My Students
Our elementary school services 431 students from a large variety of economic backgrounds. Over 44% of our students receive free/reduced lunch.
It is our responsibility to prepare students for the twenty-first century learning environment.
Students are being prepared for the workplace as early as elementary school. They are being asked to do much more than solve an equation, recite a definition, or quote a famous historical figure. They need to learn to think creatively, and find their own independence in what makes them work to the best of their ability. A 21st century learning environment combines information and skill, encompasses all aspects of creative thought, and fosters originality and creativity at high levels. My goal is to get every student in my class to experience this.
My Project
These seats are specifically and purposefully picked to increase the engagement level of all students throughout the day. Students today need to move around and fidget a lot to keep their energy in check and focus on what is going on in the classroom at a much higher rate. Recumbent biking allows students to harness their energy while minimally distracting all other students in the class. Having a choice to sit in various comfortable seats such as inflatable round seats and relaxed reclined seating with ottomans also increases their motivation to learn and enjoy the school day on a whole new level!
More than a third of students from low‑income households
