My Students
I work with a wonderful group of students who have significant special needs. Most of my students are nonverbal, which means they do not have functional verbal communication yet. They work at a variety of different learning levels. They learn best through real life experiences and hands-on activities. They have a hard time generalizing concepts which makes it important to provide these real experiences for them.
The students at our school love to ride bikes to school, but need helmets!!!
As a staff we want to encourage our students to stay fit, but we also really want to protect them as well. Wearing a helmet while riding their bikes is an essential need.
My Project
We have many students at our school who love riding their bikes to school. This is really awesome to see. However, many of our students do not wear helmets and their families are not able to provide one!!! The 10 helmets requested will be used to give to students who do not have a bike helmet. These bike helmets will help keep them safe on their way to school. These helmets are to be kept by the student and never for classroom use.
Some families are not able to provide a helmet for their child and riding a bike to school is their only form of transportation.Bike helmets are proven to protect a child's brain if they were to fall or have an accident while riding their bikes.
We would love to keep seeing our students riding their bikes to school, but we would also love to see them be safe while doing so. I appreciate any and all help that can be provided.
