Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The unit is titled “Systems.“ We are a fourth grade Gifted and Talented class that uses Project Based Learning to create connections of content. Our school is in Brooklyn. We are eager to learn through exploration.
Some of the topics covered in this unit are the human body, hydroponics, oppression, the solar system, and the ecosystem.
The hydroponics lab will offer the students an opportunity to observe the process of growing seeds and harvesting plants.
The books will continue to enhance a print-rich classroom environment and continue to develop an interest in new knowledge of the topic in the unit.
We will explore various systems that are useful in our everyday life. For example, as we learn about ecosystems in the classroom we will follow up by visiting the Brooklyn Botanical Garden to explore various biomes and their characteristics.
My students are eager to learn new things and immerse themselves in the process. They are willing to take ownership of their learning experiences.
