My Project
Secondary students are often overlooked when school supply lists come out, and materials are out of their financial reach. Because I work at a high-poverty school, this project aims to ensure my students have the materials necessary for success.
Exploring the ART part of Language Arts requires more than just technology.
Students need to physically manipulate language. Using creative tools and innovative projects allows students opportunities to approach writing and reading authentically - not just as a tool, but as forms of expression that make us human.
My students are creative, amazing humans and deserve creative, amazing lessons that make Language Arts more than just a path to a career, but skills that are both personal and professional.
Additionally, my students deserve opportunities to engage with the world in ways that are not dependent on technology, and research is clear about the benefits of writing by hand and reading without screens. Thankfully, the basic tools for reading and writing have not changed significantly in the modern era.
