Help me give my students a small group teaching easel, storytelling lapboard, seat chair pockets, and other materials to increase our classroom's organization and our groups' time efficiency to maximize our productivity.
I am a preschool through fifth-grade speech-language pathologist. My caseload consists of preschool students who have speech and language IEPs, two cross-categorical special education classrooms containing up to 26 students, and several K-5 general education students who receive speech and language services.
My students are diverse learners who come from a variety of backgrounds.
We work together in small and whole groups to build the very speech and language skills needed to be successful in school and beyond.
Many of my students have additional needs, such as attention deficit, sensory-based needs, and autism. My hope for my students is that when they leave me, they are able to successfully and confidently communicate with others in and outside of the school environment. With these additional resources, I believe the communication skills of my students will continue to grow.
My Project
We are extremely fortunate to have a classroom for our speech and language students. These materials will help us maximize our small classroom space efficiently and provide students with faster and easier access to learning and their supplies.
Most students come for 30 minute small group sessions for speech and language, and every minute counts.
Many of my students are in need of structure, organization, and consistency. By utilizing a small group tabletop easel and storytelling lapboard, my students will be able to see visuals up close and have hands-on opportunities to learn, as we share storybooks and language activities. Additionally, I am requesting seat-back pockets to organize student materials so they are accessible to all who need them in a timely manner during our sessions.
Finally, additional classroom organization materials have been requested to organize student visuals and frequently used items for easy and fast access in our space.
