This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My Pre-K students love coming to school to learn and play with their friends. They think our classroom is perfect. They don't see that if we had a few extra materials, we would be able to do so many more things.

They are happy with what we have, but I want to give them more.

We are the only Pre-K class at our school and my students are a great bunch of kids. They are just starting out and they are so excited to come to school every day. As their teacher, I try to maintain that excitement so that they will always love coming to school. Most of them come from very low income homes and have never been in school before entering my class.

My Project

I try very hard to keep a clean, bright, attractive classroom to make the students feel happy while they are at school. Some of my students don't have nice and clean environments to go home to so I try and make our classroom the best it can be for them. Right now we have several pieces of furniture, like our easel and our set of shelves, which are on their last legs. They are starting to break and they make our classroom look old and dirty.

I always try to make sure my students feel like they belong in my classroom.

We need a set of classroom cubbies so that my students can have a place to store their things while they are in school. I think that if they could keep their things in a cubby, our class would feel more like somewhere they belong.

If we had these new pieces of furniture, our class would be like new again and my students would be thrilled.
