Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I plan social emotional learning and design interventions for the individual areas of strength and need for each of my students.
Neurodivergent and special education students deserve materials and books that are designed with their unique learning styles and brains in mind.
The books I selected are ones my students want to read and they have even asked to borrow them for independent reading time.
The tears recovery kit includes tissues for tears, wipes for runny noses, and band-aids for both wound protection and emotional support.
The velcro, magnets, and laminating sheets will be used to create individual, one of a kind, student materials such as feelings check in posters, reward charts, social stories, and other personalized visual supports. I make materials that include my student's names/faces, interest areas, favorite characters, and photos from our school. Everything is one of a kind and made especially for that student's unique social emotional or behavioral area of need.
The Magna-tiles and puzzle will be used to help support collaborative play skills. I can't believe I've made it 5 years as a social worker without Magna-Tiles- they are so amazing.
