This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our middle school students are vibrant, thoughtful, creative, and resilient...And they are still working to make up for gaps left by distance learning during the peak years of the pandemic. We are nearing the mid-point of the school year and have found that so far, small group instruction has led to the highest student engagement, focus, and academic success. Because of this, we are re-structuring our daily schedule and classroom space to best support a parallel teaching model.
This project will equip our classroom with additional tables, seats, and a movable whiteboard that will allow for several small groups to engage in the daily lesson simultaneously.
Through this model, we have seen a significant increase in student participation, perseverance through challenging work, and responsibility for their own learning and for supporting the learning of their peers.
