Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students live in a rural, desert community in Arizona. They are a very diverse group. Most of my students live at or below poverty level and have not had access to educational resources. They are fun kids who are excited and eager to learn. About 1/3 of my class are English Learners. My students range from readers to littles ones who have never held a pencil or crayon. I love their little personalities and watching them grow their minds throughout their year.

My Project

I have selected a variety of STEM activities that will help my students learn and grow throughout the years to come. Some of the items will be used for the students to explore engineering, through building structures and in collaboration with multiple students to increase the children's friendship and social interaction. Several of the items selected will be used to allow the students to explore math and to gain a deeper, more hands-on understanding. They will be able to learn (while playing) about shapes, counting, addition and subtraction, etc.
