Big Books in a Big World

My students need big books on a variety of topics to help facilitate learning new vocabulary and math concepts.

My Students

Our school provides early intervention services for children ages 3 to 5 with various developmental delays. Students receive services such as occupational therapy, physical therapy, and/or speech and language therapy while attending a special education preschool.

I believe that all children should be able to experience a hands-on, developmentally appropriate preschool regardless of their abilities, and that is what I strive to do every day.

I love to learn and hope to provide my students the same love of learning through play and exploration!

My Project

My students need big books for literacy circle in order to better see the pictures and the words during large group instruction. I have some students with visual impairments and other visual needs that big books can accommodate. Big books are also beneficial to all students in order to help facilitate language and new vocabulary through pictures. Big books allow students to point to words and pictures while following along with read-alouds. These big books cover a variety of topics that go along with our themes such as animals, circus, and sharing while many of these books work on early math concepts such as counting and patterns.
