This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students attend an inclusive Preschool Collaborative Classroom (ETK/PCC). My program serves students with special needs and typically developing students. My students come from diverse backgrounds and have different abilities.
My students have vast potential and are eager to learn.
They learn by interacting with their environment and engaging in learning activities that are developmentally appropriate. I believe in early intervention and providing them with the tools necessary to succeed. By providing students with diverse learning experiences and early intervention that meets their needs, some of my students have been able to exit special education and join their peers in a general education classroom curriculum when they transition into kindergarten.
My Project
Early literacy skills are essential for students' academic success in the upcoming years. Our students come from diverse backgrounds and have different learning needs. The big books will provide visuals that will help our English learners and students with special needs.
Big books are a great way to share stories with our young learners, engage students in classroom discussions and introduce new vocabulary words.
These books are developmentally appropriate and will help support our classroom instruction.
I will be able to share the big books during read-aloud sessions and students will have access to our books in our small classroom library section.
