Big Books, Big Pictures, Big Words, More Fun!

My students need 15 Big Books, such as "It Looked Like Spilt Milk" and "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie," to read during story time and to read in the Big Book station!

My Students

"Move, scoot over, I cannot see!" These comments are all too common during story time. My Kindergartners love story time but they also want to be able to see the pictures. We need more Big Books to add to our classroom!

My students are the most precious and sweet Kindergarten kids you will ever meet.

They attend a rural moderate poverty school in South Carolina. They each come to school at different levels in their learning. Some have been reading and/or listening to books for a long time while others have never been read to because of language barriers. But one thing is common with each of them, they love story time!

My Project

With these Big Books the opportunities are endless for our classroom and for my students. They will each have a better view of the pictures, be able to see the words, watch me track print and begin to have a better understanding of reading skills. They will also be able to participate in the reading, therefore better learning the story and then able to read the story on their own in the Big Book Station. Speaking of the Big Book Station, this is where the kids love to go. They are always choosing this station because the books I add in this station are the same books we read during story time. This allows them to get comfy on the floor, get a big pointer, track the words and read their favorite stories and feel like such a big kid! However, soon I will be out of new books to read to my kids and so soon we will be out of new books for the Big Book Station. These 15 Big Books are going to allow more reading opportunities in the classroom!
