Bibiliotherapy - A Place to Call their Own

Help me give my students a space all their own with inspirational artwork, relevant books, fanciful shelving, and comfy seating to complete our Bibiliotherapy nook!

My Students

We are fortunate to live in a Bay Area community that is rich in cultural diversity. Many of my students embody a variety of cultures they have a desire to connect with their backgrounds. A majority of the students in the district are avid readers and are searching to make these connections through challenging diverse and inclusive texts that align with their interests as well as teach them about others; they yearn for this connection.

My students are both excited about middle school and challenged by all the changes.

The library is a safe space for students. It is a place they can come, feel welcome, and belong. Students thrive in an environment where they feel they are home and the library is the hub of the school. It is more important than ever the library be kept current, relevant with a diversity of choice in reading and space.

My Project

School libraries are no longer only a place of quiet studying and reading, but a hopeful, engaging, and untapped resource for mental health support. At this time, more than ever, students struggle with anxiety, depression, identity, and ways to find peace. The library is a great place to provide this support.

We have the perfect nook for students to heal and recharge; now we just to fill it.

You can help us by adding soft rugs, fanciful bookcases, and inspirational wall art with a place to sit to complete this space.
