it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
With it being the 4th year as a Fine Arts Academy and our 3rd year for the dance program, we can acknowledge the immense talent at our school! These talented scholars and artists deserve all the support and education they can get to create success, to lead and empower themselves within their own community! Our students put in a lot of time and effort and it is our duty as educators to nourish them to help them flourish in the real world! My Project
Culture and color collide in the pageantry of Folklorico ballet — a genre of dance intended to foster cultural understanding by incorporating the diversity of Mexico's art forms and people.
Ballet Folklorico is ingrained in Mexican culture and combines many of the foundations of ballet with indigenous folklore.
The dances vary according to location and were created and influenced by the villages from whence they originated.
Each region of Mexico, the Southwest United States, and Central America has a legacy of a variety of regionally distinctive dances.
Though the dances differ by region, the core steps and technique are the same.
Costume design is critical to the national dance. Colors and patterns vary by state, and men dress according to regional traditions.
Even though these are practice skirts my students will be able to help keep the real traditional costume in pristine shape while using the practice to correctly execute the skirt choreography.
