This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
How exciting would it be to have a Galaxy at your fingertips? Now imagine how students from a low socioeconomic level will feel when they will have a galaxy's worth of knowledge within their reach?
My students are third graders in California.
Many are second language learners. They come from an economically disadvantaged neighborhood, but they are filled with curiosity and a desire to learn. They come to school everyday, full of questions. I truly enjoy working with them everyday. I know if you could meet them, you would look forward to working with them too.
My Project
I am asking for a galaxy tablet for my classroom. With this technology I will be able to access many apps and use them with my students to enhance their knowledge in a variety of subjects throughout the day. For example, using a math app, students would be able to practice multiplication facts. For my students that need extra help in reading, there is a sight word app in which they can practice their sight and spelling words. Having access to current technology will help them to develop a technological literacy that will benefit them in their academic careers.
Technology is a wonderful thing to have in the classroom.
I still remember using the apple IIc in my elementary school's computer lab and thinking it was great. I want my students to feel the same way about technology. With this technology, I feel that they will have much more than the "Galaxy" in their hands.
