it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
What I love most about these students is their unshakable resilience—despite the uncertainty of temporary housing and foster care, they continue to show incredible strength, determination, and the ability to rise above challenges. But resilience alone isn’t enough; they need the right support to truly thrive. Social Emotional Learning (SEL) provides them with critical resources to navigate their emotions and build confidence, helping them find stability in the midst of change.
Every child deserves a safe space where they can process emotions, feel secure, and regain a sense of control.
SEL resources like calming corners create havens for students to decompress and regulate stress, offering them the tools to find inner peace. Calming tools, including sensory items and breathing exercises, equip them with strategies to manage anxiety and focus on learning. And something as simple as nutritious snacks ensures they have the physical energy to engage fully in their education, eliminating distractions caused by hunger and reinforcing that they are cared for.
SEL isn’t just about emotional support—it’s about affirming their worth and equipping them with the tools they need to overcome obstacles, so they can move forward with strength, hope, and stability beyond the classroom. With the right resources and care, we can help these students harness their resilience, turn challenges into opportunities, and build the foundation for a brighter future.
