This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

It's amazing to think that a small furry creature can have such an impact on young children. With the recent school violence, our students need multiple ways to relax and refocus. They need a classroom support animal! Our class pet, Betty, was adopted from a rescue shelter and rehomed in our classroom. the children are thrilled to hold and care for her.

A class pet provides multiple opportunities to teach children to be responsible as they have to clean the cage, provide fresh food water, and hay daily, and play with the animal as well.

Students are thrilled to take part in this and have a daily part in the overall welfare of the animal. Growing up with an animal is a very important part of children's development!
