This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a Title 1 school with limited funds. My students are predominantly from low income families. Many are not native English speakers. They often come to school with few experiences and burdens that weigh on them.

Despite the challenges they face, they are eager to learn and succeed!

I am always seeking new ways to reach my students, making learning connect for them. I want to make sure I help them become well-rounded citizens; at home, in school and throughout the community.

My Project

In my classroom, we read, not just to enjoy, but also to learn! In my classroom, we are a family, no matter what! In my classroom, we respect all who enter!

I am eager to add this collection of books, covering various social injustices, encounters and issues that most, if not all, of my students have already dealt with or will face in their lives.

These books cover diversity, character, respect and family dynamics.

I want to share, through literature, issues that can in turn, spark conversations, ideas and growth. When students hear stories they can relate to, they close that book with comfort and knowledge. The words they read allow them to add tools to their tool box of life! Please help me make sure my students have a tool box for handing life's struggles as they come.
