it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Whenever I announce to the class that it is that part of the unit when we are going to write an essay, I usually get groans and sighs. And it's not because they are lazy, but because writing is becoming a struggling for most of my kids.
I can concentrate on grammar, focus on sentence structure, and teach them how to edit their papers...but ultimately, what I need is a comprehensive guide that they can understand fully.
What I have now is a plethora of teaching techniques, taken from different sources through my teaching career. It's not as effective as I need it to be. Having recently found this text, I became excited in the possibilities it offered.
My Project
This book is aligned with the Common Core Standards. This book will help my kids understand the many facets of college writing they will be expected to know in two years. This book scaffolds the writing lessons in such a way that it will help build student confidence. This book features actual student writing as the examples; something relevant to their lives.
All the resources I need to teach them good writing is now within reach.
It can be found in this one textbook. Please help my kids reach their potential, which they will when we reach for this book. Writing can be fulfilling once again, and just maybe, those groans will turn into excitement.
