Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Please assist me in supporting our students at my high school. The students come to school daily. Many of the students I work with are eager and motivated to learn. Our students with special needs often have challenges that make it very difficult for them to thrive in the classroom. As a special education teacher, I am often tasked to be creative and provide differentiated assignments and a quiet space. With your assistance, I am able to create a classroom environment that students can call their own, where they can be themselves and learn through various means.

My classroom has very limited resources.

I would like for my students to have a rug in the classroom where they can have a designated area to lounge. Students who struggle with socializing often come to my room for lunch. The Nintendo Switch can be useful in helping students have friendly competitions while building strong connections with Mario Kart during this time. The speakers would be utilized to hear much better for listening to academic and nonacademic videos. The glow-in-the-dark stars, neon lamp, fish tank, and mini lamps will help make our classroom soothing. Many of my students do not like having the ceiling light as it gives them headaches. The journals will be used for students to jot down their feelings and work through any hard times they are experiencing. My students would also benefit from having snacks such as granola bars. The refrigerator will be helpful in having cold mini water for our students. I would also like to have some pens where our students can doodle and draw. The clipboards will be utilized for students to be able to draw on paper. I thank you for reading and for considering supporting our students.
