This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Being in the South Bronx, our basketball players have little to no access to proper equipment to help them take their talents outside of the classroom to the next level.
What makes my basketball student-athletes special is their desire to represent our school on the court and in the classroom.
Basketball is very competitive in New York City and our athletes know that they are competing against some of the top talent in the Bronx. Our student-athletes know that they represent over 1,000 students K-12 and they are role models for our community in the South Bronx.
We want to show our pride in them by providing them with the proper apparel this coming season. All of our games take place at night during the winter. Warm-up uniforms help provide our athletes with the right apparel to stay warm before, during, and after games.
I believe that our student-athletes deserve to look and feel like the vital pillars of our community that they are. By providing these warm-ups, our student-athletes will be able to take pride in not only their performance but also their shared appearance as a competitive basketball program in New York City.
Whether that is by scoring a layup, blocking a shot, or making a play that will benefit the team, every donation will help make these dreams a reality. With the help of each donor, we are one step closer to providing an opportunity for a student, who would not have had the opportunity otherwise, to showcase their talent.
