My Students
I teach an amazing group of culturally and racially diverse 6-year-olds. My classroom is in a Title I building in Historic Sandy, UT. My students are divided into two academic ability groupings. I've got 50% below grade level and 50% on or above grade level in reading and math.
I am one lucky pseudo mama of twenty-four students that have the opportunity to learn in-person.
We just need a little refresh for our classroom.
My Project
Our school has implemented a social emotional learning program to help students address feelings, actions and how to speak to others. It was wonderful to use last year with students coming back after the Covid-19 virus shut down schools. This coming school year we expect even more students to come back in person. Some may have forgotten how to behave in a classroom, some may have feelings they don’t understand. This carpet still give us a space to gather, learn to be kind, say kind words, and problem solve. To me this is an essential part of the classroom.
