I teach kindergarten at an incredibly diverse, Title I School in Michigan. My amazing kindergarten students are filled with wonder, awe, and a love of learning. They can’t wait to try, do, and learn new things. They enter school with a wide range of strengths, abilities, and interests. Some of my students begin school learning letters and sounds, while others are reading and writing.
Our classroom is our home away from home.
It’s a safe place for students to learn and grow from one another. Their contagious excitement for school makes every day remarkable.
My Project
Each year I set out to create a classroom environment built on respect, teamwork, and togetherness. Every day we focus on learning about the benefits of combining our strengths and working together to be the best we can be. The design of these Flower Tables would enhance peer interaction and encourage a collaborative work environment. There would be less time spent trying to generate a successful arrangement for partner work and group projects and more time to just dive right in. The setup of these tables would allow my students to easily work together without ever having to think about where they are sitting, if they are comfortable, if they can see or reach from where they are seated. They could pour their hard work and passion into whatever it is they are working on.
By donating to our project, you will be helping my students fully understand what a collaborative environment looks like and instilling these values in them for their future.
