This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students are from a community and school with limited resources. The music program has no budget, and yet, we get through the year with donations. Many of my students rehearse almost every day after school to supplement the time they may have during class. Students prefer to stay in the music room before class, during lunch, and late after school.
My students are a mixture of 9th through 12th graders who are eager learners and members of the Marching Band, Drumline, String Orchestra and the beginning bands who use the instrumental classroom.
My Project
My classes are separated into two rooms depending on what is being taught. In the Instrumental room, the chairs don't really help with proper posture so that my students can improve on their tone. Many of the chairs have started to fall apart as well. My students deserve something better.
Getting Wenger music student chairs for my classes will help improve the posture of all my instrumental students.
I am always telling my instrumental students to sit properly but the chairs we have do not help. With the Wenger chairs I should start seeing and hearing the improvements my student make. Eventually it will help my students improve on there playing and getting used to playing with the proper posture. Other schools have these chairs and I believe my students deserve them as well.
