Help me give my students a classroom library full of interesting and exciting books to read. I want to provide a variety of interests and reading levels, to cater to all students in my class.
School is where these students come to feel loved.
My students are a group of first graders at a Title I school in Florida.
These students all come from various backgrounds. Some are military families, some are new to the area and are only here for a short while, some have been here their whole lives.
Our school has a large percentage of children receiving free and reduced-price lunch. School is the place they come to get warm in the winter, to have a good meal, to have some stability, and most importantly-to be with people who love them.
I want my students to love being at school. I want them to love learning and to have fun while doing it. My passion is teaching reading, and I want all of my students to develop that same love for reading as I have before they leave my classroom.
My Project
The books I am requesting for my classroom will be used to replace the old, tattered and torn books in my classroom library.
I am requesting books on various levels to accommodate all students.
While I teach first grade, my students are reading on various levels from kindergarten all the way through 3rd or 4th grade. By providing books on all of these levels, I will be able to provide material that each of my students can read both independently as well as with a friend. The holiday pack of books will be especially exciting, as we love to celebrate in 1st grade!
