Bella's Office: Students Learn Unconditional Love and Have Reduced Stress

My Project
I work in a suburban high school setting with students from all socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. What these students all have in common is that they are making important choices for their futures, while many have stressful, complex lives at home. Having an emotional support dog has shown to make a positive difference in schools. Dogs don't care if you are popular, if your grade on the last test was good or bad; they love you even when your parents are disappointed in your choices.
Bella, our new emotional support dog, will be joining the junior community office in April.
She is a sweet golden retriever mix from a local shelter who has been trained to be obedient and to work well with kids. Bella will help students who just need a moment to calm their anxiety, who need to de-escalate their emotions, and who need to release some stress.
