At our school, our focus is on making lifelong learners and leaders, and part of how we do that is by celebrating the positive behavior choices we see our students making every day! This sounds simple however our school is a Title-1 school, we have a high percentage of free and reduced lunch and many students are from low socio-economic backgrounds, one parent households, are homeless, or need food assistance. Yet every day so many of my students show up ready to try their best and to learn, they show up with a smile on their face, and a kind word to their teachers and friends. I want to not only support them but to celebrate their positive choices, and their resilience.
My Project
Many of the kids at my school come from tumultuous backgrounds with little to no stability.
I want to show them that school is a happy place to be and at school when you act in a positive way, we see it, and something positive will happen!
All year we have been celebrating their positive behavior with Bell Bear tickets, when students are on task, seen helping a friend or teacher, being responsible in the hallway or in class, being respectful, etc., we notice their positive behavior by giving them a ticket.
It's now time for the first ever Bell Bear Bash where students can come and spend their hard earned tickets in a carnival-like atmosphere, but I need your help to make it happen!
We will have the following celebration stations available for kids and your donations will help to make these areas happen: Arts and crafts area, kids can make Fairy wands (using glitter glue, ribbon, and wooden dowels), decorate masks (using paper masks, sticker jewels, more glitter glue of course and paint) or SLIME (using cornstarch and water)!
Musical chairs with prizes (what’s a celebration without some prizes so during musical chairs kids will have the opportunity to earn prizes!)
Cotton candy and popcorn (a coworkers husband is donating the use of both these machines but we need help getting the bells and whistles!)
I-pad photo booth area (all we need here is some fringe for a background!)
