My students need to experience, through this trip to Belize, environmental science and conservation first-hand, in order to apply their knowledge to bettering the world.

My Students
My students attend a selective enrollment school in the city of Chicago. They are high-achieving young men and women who have worked very hard to be admitted to a school that challenges them to live every day with courage, compassion, character, and curiosity--our four Cs.
Donating to my project will allow me to further enrich the academic and personal lives of my students.
As a Chicago Public School, our high school is perennially under-funded relative to suburban schools in the Chicago area, and any additional funding is greatly appreciated.
My Project
This is a science-oriented expedition through southern Belize, where students will encounter, first-hand, the immense biodiversity of Belize, by going on a boat tour of the Rio Grande River, learning about the Port Honduras Marine Reserve, and observing the Meso-American Barrier Reef.
Students will also participate in local conservation efforts that preserve the natural beauty and endangered species of the area, including assisting rangers with reforestation along the Columbia River, helping maintain signs that protect the national parks, and helping to identify and clean up debris along the barrier reef (part of the second largest barrier reef in the world).
