Being Smart With Our Pocket Chart

My students need many types of pocket charts and a 3-Way Tabletop Chart Center, to organize my room and promote independent learning.

My Students

My students need the necessary tools that will help them to not only learn but to learn independently. I am teaching my students how to answer their own questions and figure out where they need to be as well as what they need to be doing.

I work in a classroom filled with busy 5 and 6 year olds.

I have a very large class of 24. We accomplish many things throughout the day but it is very important for me to stay organized. We are located in a rural low income area. With a lack of funding it is up to me to get the supplies I need for my room.

My Project

The pocket charts will be a huge asset to my classroom. They will be used daily to display our literacy workshop choices, classroom jobs, and what my students will accomplish during the day. By displaying the "I Can cards" my students will know what they are expected to learn as well as why we are doing specific lessons. This will help build their confidence. Independence will be created when students are able to see their stations, jobs, and expectations all on their own and know where in the classroom they need to be.

These pocket charts will be re-used every year inside my classroom to promote independency.

We will use them for organization as well as a way to promote hands-on learning. My students will know their daily jobs and what they will be learning inside my classroom each and every day.
