Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Each year I strive to order as many pencils as possible for my students. Years ago, I read a poem entitled, "Cause I Ain't Got A Pencil" that continues to stick in my head. I never want something as simple as a pencil to be what causes my students to feel like they are less, to feel like they are not welcomed, to be the thing that ruins their day, etc. Providing my students with pencils shows them that we are a team. If there is a day that you forget a pencil, lose it, etc. I got you!

The colorful bins will add a nice touch of color to a beige room.

These bins will be used to sort my classes by color. One bin for their work of the day, and one bin for their turn in work. This way all students know where to find their materials. The binder clips are to help them organized their classwork by quarter. Each quarter the students empty out their science section of their binder and place it in a hanging folder in the back of the room. Giving the students binder clips will help them organize their work by quarter so that they can easily access the papers that they need.
